1) What is Projeto Âncora?
A not-for-profit organization, established in Granja Viana, Cotia - São Paulo, whose goal is to rescue poor children and youngsters from the streets.
2) What is Projeto Âncora's Mission?
To educate for a more active, solidary and commited kind of citizenship, working side by side with the school, the family and the community in general.
3) What is Projeto Âncora’s vision?
To improve children's, adolescents and elderly people's education and human development rates.
4) When was the Project founded?
Walter Steurer who, as an entrepeneur, was aware that the social debt is everybody's responsibility, specially that of the business class, founded Projeto Âncora at the end of 1995.
5) How many people are catered to?
Nowadays, there are 680 children and youngsters, between 1 and 18 years old.
6) How is it maintained?
Through private or companies donations, and through partnership with foundations.
7) What does the Project have to offer?
Daycare; medical, - dental, psychological and nutritional ambulatory care. Art and music workshops, circus/theater school, multiple sports Court, computing lab and professional training workshops.
8) What are the project's indirect goals?
To set an example for the entrepeneur class. To be a role model as a serious non-assistentialist organization. To build up men and women with strong character, and young people who are able to compete in the working market. Stimulating philanthropy and solidarity. Being an active part of the huge collective effort that is necessary to rescue Brazil out of its misery. Investing in children is investing in the country itself.
